WAINRIGHT, AK – Robert Segevan, a 31-year-old resident of Wainwright, was arrested yesterday by the FBI on charges related to child exploitation and the possession of child pornography.
Court documents reveal that Segevan allegedly attempted to entice minors in his community to meet for sexual contact. He is also accused of receiving and possessing child pornography and attempting to encourage minors to produce such material.
The investigation began when a 15-year-old minor victim reported to the North Slope Borough Police Department that Segevan had been asking for sexually explicit pictures online. It was further discovered that three additional minors were also targeted by Segevan, who continued his harassment even after attempts to block him.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children flagged an account linked to Segevan for child sexual abuse material, leading to his identification. A subsequent search warrant uncovered several sexually explicit images from a fifth minor victim. Electronic devices were seized during a search of Segevan’s home on December 24, 2024.
On June 30, 2025, the FBI received a complaint indicating that Segevan had asked one of the previously identified minors for body pictures and continued to harass several others in the community. Segevan faces charges including receipt of child pornography, attempted enticement of a minor, possession of child pornography, and attempted production of child pornography.
U.S. Attorney Michael J. Heyman announced the charges against Segevan, who could face between 15 years to life in prison if convicted. Assistant U.S. Attorney Carly Vosacek is prosecuting the case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a federal initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
