Wakpala Man Sentenced for Sexual Abuse of a Minor
A 23-year-old man from Wakpala, South Dakota, has been sentenced to 30 months in custody for the sexual abuse of a minor.
Fabian Rodriguez was convicted of the crime and sentenced on November 3, 2014, by U.S. District Judge Charles B. Kornmann.
According to the investigation, Rodriguez knowingly engaged in a sexual act with a female victim who was at least four years younger than him and had not yet attained the age of 16 years.
The incident occurred between January 21, 2014, and February 21, 2014.
Rodriguez was indicted by a federal grand jury on March 18, 2014, and later pled guilty on July 28, 2014.
He was sentenced to 30 months in custody, 5 years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Standing Rock Agency, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Troy R. Morley.
Rodriguez was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
