Defendant Charged with MS-13 Execution-Style Murder in Texas
HOUSTON, Texas – In a shocking turn of events, two alleged high-ranking MS-13 gang members have been charged with execution-style murder in the state of Texas. Walter Chicas-Garcia, 23, and Jimmy Villalobos-Gomez, 23, are set to appear in federal court via video conference today at 10 a.m. before U.S. Magistrate Judge Frances H. Stacy.
The two men, who are Salvadorian nationals and residents of Houston, are accused of murdering a victim on July 3 using a baseball bat and machete. According to the indictment, the motive behind the brutal killing was to increase their position within the MS-13 enterprise. If convicted, they face up to life in federal prison or the possibility of death.
The investigation into the murder was conducted by the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, and the Houston Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys John Michael Lewis and Britni Cooper are leading the prosecution, alongside Trial Attorneys Julie A. Finocchiaro and Matthew Hoff from the Organized Crime and Gang Section.
An indictment is a formal accusation of criminal conduct, not evidence. A defendant is presumed innocent unless convicted through due process of law.
The MS-13 gang has been a thorn in the side of law enforcement for years, with its members engaging in a range of violent and criminal activities. The gang’s presence in Texas has been a particular concern, with authorities working tirelessly to disrupt its operations and bring its members to justice.
The case against Chicas-Garcia and Villalobos-Gomez is a significant blow to the MS-13 gang, and it serves as a reminder of the brutal and violent nature of the organization. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
