Warner Woman Charged with Helping Fugitive Evade Capture
CONCORD, NH – Heather Akins, 30, of Warner, has been arrested and charged with making false statements to a federal agent and aiding a fugitive in evading capture, according to authorities.
On July 19, 2021, a federal grand jury indicted Akins on one count of making a false statement to a federal agent and one count of accessory after the fact. The indictment alleges that Akins made a materially false statement about the whereabouts of a fugitive and assisted the fugitive to hinder the efforts of the U.S. Marshals to apprehend the fugitive.
The indictment charges that Akins’ actions were designed to prevent the U.S. Marshals Service from apprehending the fugitive. The charges against Akins are only allegations, and she is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
