Washington Brothers Sentenced for MD/VA Armed Robberies

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Three Washington men have been sentenced to prison for a series of armed robberies across Maryland and Virginia. The brothers, Andre Joel White Jr., 41; Abdullah Khalil Ismael DeVaugh Michelle, also known as Damien Devaughn Moore, 43; and Aaron Isaiah Devaughn Aaron White, 29, were involved in the heists from September 2023 to February 2024.

According to court documents, the brothers robbed a convenience store, four tobacco shops, and a gas station twice. They donned masks and gloves, brandished firearms, assaulted a victim, and stole money and cigarettes during their criminal spree.

The chaos escalated when Michelle noticed a ride-share driver helping a passenger with luggage at a hotel in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 4, 2023. He drove away with the car, using it to commit more robberies in Virginia. After the car broke down, they abandoned it and continued robbing stores with a rented van. The van was reported stolen, and Michelle was arrested on Feb. 13, 2024.

In court documents, all three brothers admitted their roles. On July 2, Michelle received a 21-year sentence for conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery and using, carrying, and brandishing a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. Aaron White was sentenced to 14 years on June 18 for similar charges. Andre White pled guilty to three counts of using, carrying, and brandishing a firearm on Dec. 18, facing a sentence of 10 years and six months.

Erik S. Siebert, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and William J. DelBagno, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Baltimore Field Office, announced the sentences after they were handed down by U.S. District Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles. The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence.

This high-profile case underscores the commitment to community safety under PSN’s strategy, which includes fostering trust, supporting prevention efforts, focused enforcement, and measuring outcomes.
