Seattle – Kyle Christopher Benton, a 29-year-old Army vet from Snohomish, Wash., was handed a two-year sentence for illegal gun possession and for providing tactical training to extremist groups. The sentencing comes after an extensive investigation into Benton’s activities revealed his involvement in the white supremacist movement.
Benton, who operated under multiple social media aliases, was arrested in September 2024 following an FBI probe that uncovered his online radicalization efforts. His arrest followed a threat to kill his wife and an FBI investigation into his military discharge.
Records indicate Benton used social media to distribute neo-Nazi propaganda and violent extremist content. He also participated in hate rallies in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, leading workshops on firearms for white supremacist groups.
The feds executed a search warrant at Benton’s home, where they seized an M16 rifle that fired automatically, an auto sear device, and two unregistered rifles with barrels less than 16 inches. Benton pleaded guilty to Unlawful Possession of a Machinegun and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm on March 28, 2025.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Wynne requested a 30-month sentence, noting that while in possession of the firearms, Benton actively engaged with groups encouraging racially or ethnically motivated violence. Benton has since disavowed his white supremacist views.
The FBI investigated and Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian J. Wynne prosecuted this case.
