Kyle Ray Campbell, Fentanyl Pill Trafficking, Washington 2024

Tri-Cities, WA – Kyle Ray Campbell, 36, and his brother Cameron Earl Campbell, 32, of Richland, Washington, have been handed down a combined sentence of 45 years in federal prison for their role in a massive fentanyl trafficking operation.

Chief United States District Judge Stanley A. Bastian sentenced Kyle Campbell to 25 years for Possession with Intent to Distribute 400 Grams or More of Fentanyl, while Cameron Campbell received a 20-year sentence under the same charge. Both men also face 5 years of federal supervision upon their release from custody.

The Campbells were caught trafficking large amounts of fentanyl from Mexico into the Tri-Cities area, with Kyle Campbell beginning his operations in early 2019. He traveled to San Diego to meet a contact who supplied him with fentanyl-laced pills smuggled across the border, while Cameron took over when off supervision from the Washington State Department of Corrections.

On February 8-12, 2020, Cameron Campbell made several trips between San Ysidro, California, and Mexico, carrying thousands of fentanyl-laced pills. FBI agents intercepted him in Toppenish, Washington, where they seized over 10,000 pills and his phone containing incriminating messages with his brother.

In July 2020, a search warrant at Kyle Campbell’s home yielded 400 fentanyl-laced pills, drug residue, multiple firearms, and cash. Cameron Campbell attempted to obstruct justice by having his ex-wife erase seized cell phones, while Kyle threatened a witness in the case.

Despite their claims of remorse, both Campbells were smuggling drugs into Benton County Jail for distribution. U.S. Attorney Waldref emphasized the office’s commitment to combating the fentanyl epidemic and protecting communities from such dangerous narcotics.
