Felon Sentenced to 150 Months for Gun Crime

ST. LOUIS – U.S. District Judge Stephen R. Clark on Thursday sentenced Robert Eutz III, 44, to 150 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The sentencing comes after a shooting in 2023, in which Eutz allegedly shot a victim multiple times. The victim identified Eutz as the shooter, and witnesses also pointed to Eutz’s vehicle as the getaway car. The casings from the shooting scene matched the gun and spent casings recovered from Eutz’s vehicle, further linking him to the crime.

As a convicted felon, Eutz is barred from possessing a firearm. Eutz pleaded guilty in January to one felony count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. His plea agreement details the evidence against him, including the discovery of a 10mm Glock handgun, 23.67 grams of raw fentanyl, and 111 capsules containing fentanyl in a safe in the vehicle.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Szczucinski prosecuted the case, bringing Eutz to justice for his crimes.

Eutz’s sentence is a significant one, reflecting the severity of his offenses. His possession of a firearm as a convicted felon is a serious crime, and his involvement in the shooting and trafficking of fentanyl only adds to the severity of his punishment.

The case serves as a reminder of the importance of enforcing gun laws and holding felons accountable for their actions. It also highlights the ongoing struggle with gun violence and the trafficking of deadly substances like fentanyl in our communities.
