Washington, DC Man Guilty of Facilitating Heroin Distribution

A 38-year-old Washington, DC resident has pleaded guilty to using a communication facility to facilitate heroin distribution in Berkeley County, West Virginia.

Brian Clifton Jackson, 38, of Washington, DC, entered a plea of guilty on February 27, 2013, in United States District Court before Judge Gina M. Groh.

According to United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, Jackson used the public telephone system on May 12, 2011, to facilitate the distribution of heroin in Berkeley County.

Prosecutors say Jackson’s involvement in the heroin trade is not a new development, as he has prior convictions for possession with intent to distribute cocaine in Prince George’s County, Maryland in 1991 and 1994.

As a result, Jackson’s penalties are enhanced, and he faces up to 8 years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Jarod Douglas and Stephen Warner, who worked with the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crime Task Force to bring Jackson to justice.

The task force consists of officers from the West Virginia State Police – Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Martinsburg Police Department, and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department.

Jackson is currently in custody pending sentencing and will face the full weight of the law for his role in facilitating heroin distribution in Berkeley County.
