SYRACUSE, NEW YORK – In a shocking turn of events, 44-year-old Stuart Chambers of Watertown, New York, has been caught with his hands deep in the cookie jar. Yesterday, Chambers pled guilty to attempted possession of methamphetamine and cocaine with intent to distribute.
According to sources, Chambers admitted to traveling from Watertown to Syracuse on January 30, 2024, in an attempt to purchase one pound of methamphetamine and nine ounces of cocaine. It’s clear that Chambers had a plan to distribute these illicit substances, but his operation was shut down before it could gain any traction.
The 44-year-old defendant was arrested as part of a major drug interdiction operation conducted by the DEA and other law enforcement agencies. This operation was a prime example of the government’s commitment to taking down those who would seek to profit from the misery of others.
Chambers’ guilty plea also revealed a disturbing trend. The defendant admitted to having previously been convicted in federal court in the Middle District of Pennsylvania of possessing controlled substances with the intent to distribute. This shows a clear pattern of behavior and raises questions about the effectiveness of our current justice system.
Now, Chambers faces a mandatory minimum federal prison sentence of 10 years, along with a maximum sentence of life. He will also have to pay a fine of up to $8,000,000 and serve a term of supervised release of at least 8 years and up to life. This is a stark reminder that the consequences of engaging in drug trafficking are severe and long-lasting.
The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is investigating the case with assistance from Pennsylvania State Police, Metro-Jefferson Drug Task Force, and the New York State Police-Special Investigations Unit – Syracuse.
