FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. – In a stunning turn of events, Kenneth Biser, the 59-year-old resident of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, has pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine. The United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced the plea today, marking a significant victory for law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation.
Biser stood before United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson and admitted to his guilt on one count. His involvement in the illegal drug trade spanned from November 2011 to July 18, 2012, where he conspired with others to possess and distribute over 500 grams of cocaine.
The severity of the offense calls for a potential sentence of 40 years in prison, a fine of $5,000,000, or both. Judge Gibson has set the sentencing hearing for February 6, 2014, at 10 a.m., ensuring that justice will be swift and served.
Assistant United States Attorney John J. Valkovci, Jr., is leading the prosecution against Biser, representing the government in this high-stakes case. The court has granted Biser continued bail pending sentencing, acknowledging his right to due process.
The investigation that led to Biser’s conviction was a collaborative effort by the Safe Streets Task Force initiative. This task force includes the Laurel Highlands Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pa. Attorney General’s Office, multiple drug task forces, and local law enforcement agencies such as the Blair County Drug Task Force, Cambria County Drug Task Force, Somerset County Drug Task Force, Roaring Spring Borough Police Dept., and Paint Township Police Dept.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Pennsylvania. The successful prosecution of Kenneth Biser underscores the commitment of law enforcement to protect communities from the dangers posed by illegal drugs.
