A Fernandina Beach repeat offender has pleaded guilty to distributing cocaine, a crime that could land him in federal prison for up to 30 years.
Wesley Eugene Parker, 25, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, pleaded guilty to distribution of cocaine in a federal court in Jacksonville, Florida. His guilty plea was announced by Acting United States Attorney W. Stephen Muldrow.
Parker’s crime was part of a larger investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office. According to the plea agreement, Parker sold powder cocaine to a confidential informant on December 28, 2016, and again just a few days later.
When law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at the home where Parker was living, they recovered firearms, ammunition, and illegal drugs, including marijuana and cocaine.
Parker’s guilty plea is significant because of his multiple prior felony convictions for drug offenses. This means that he faces an enhanced maximum penalty of 30 years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael J. Coolican.
Parker’s guilty plea is a stark reminder of the dangers of drug trafficking and the consequences of breaking the law. It is also a testament to the hard work and dedication of law enforcement agencies in Florida who are working tirelessly to keep our communities safe.
In a statement, Acting United States Attorney W. Stephen Muldrow said, ‘The guilty plea of Wesley Eugene Parker is a significant blow to those who would seek to distribute cocaine and other illicit substances in our community. We will continue to work tirelessly to bring those who engage in this type of behavior to justice.’
