David Ohnmaicht, Online Child Exploitation, NY 2024

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY – DAVID OHNMACHT, a registered sexual offender, has been charged with sexually exploiting a 14-year-old girl online. The 36-year-old resident of Westchester County is accused of persuading the minor to engage in explicit activities and transmitting them via Instagram.

OHNMACHT faces a life sentence if convicted. He was presented before U.S. Magistrate Judge Judith McCarthy in White Plains federal court and detained without bail, according to acting U.S. Attorney Joon H. Kim of the Southern District of New York and FBI Assistant Director William F. Sweeney Jr.

Acting U.S. Attorney Kim stated that OHNMACHT is accused of coercing the girl into sending him sexually explicit videos, threatening to release them to her friends if she did not comply. ‘It is one of law enforcement’s most important missions to protect children from this type of predatory conduct,’ he said.

FBI Assistant Director Sweeney emphasized the importance of parents being vigilant in protecting their children online. ‘Our job gets harder as more predators approach children and take advantage of them,’ he warned.

The amended complaint filed yesterday in White Plains federal court reveals that OHNMACHT communicated with the girl online from November 2016 through February 2017, using the screen names ‘Dannyw290’ and ‘little.kitty.love.’ He told her he would expose her previous videos to friends if she did not send more.

OHNMACHT was convicted in 2003 on multiple sexual abuse and assault charges involving four victims, aged 13 to 15, at the time of the incidents. Prior to this latest arrest, he had served nearly nine years in prison and completed a five-year post-release supervision term.
