Centreville Man Sentenced for Selling Heroin and Crack Cocaine
A 37-year-old Centreville man has been sentenced to 37 months in federal prison for selling heroin and crack cocaine in East St. Louis, Illinois.
Wilbert M. Sewell, 37, of Centreville, Illinois, was sentenced on August 2, 2016, in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis, Illinois, by United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Donald S. Boyce.
Sewell had previously pled guilty on April 5, 2016, to four federal felony charges, including distribution of heroin, and possession with intent to distribute heroin and crack cocaine.
During his change of plea hearing, Sewell admitted selling heroin, crack cocaine, and cocaine to a police informant in East St. Louis on four separate occasions between August and October, 2015.
The investigation that led to Sewell’s arrest and conviction was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and by the Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois (MEGSI).
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert L. Garrison.
As a result of the sentence, Sewell will spend the next three years behind bars for his role in distributing these deadly substances.
This conviction serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in our community.
