William Dodd, Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substance, Texas 2023

William Dodd, 34, of Dallas, copped to possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance on August 11, rolling over on a high-volume stash house operation that flooded city blocks with narcotics. The guilty plea, entered in federal court, comes after a no-knock raid by the Dallas Police Department turned up a pharmacy-level stash of illicit drugs, weapons, and cash.

Inside Dodd’s stash house, authorities hauled out 12.43 kilograms of marijuana, 5.67 grams of cocaine, 2.73 grams of the synthetic stimulant N-ethylpentylone, 87 Norco pills, 65 Percocet tablets, and nearly 140 grams of red liquid laced with codeine and promethazine—commonly known on the streets as purple drank. A separate 33.69 grams of purple liquid with the same dangerous mix were also recovered. Digital scales, multiple cell phones, and $4,530 in suspected drug proceeds completed the haul.

But it was the firearm that escalated the case. Among the seized items was a stolen gun—potentially linking Dodd to additional federal firearms violations. The Drug Enforcement Administration, which spearheaded the investigation, is treating the operation as a significant disruption to a major distribution network in the Dallas metro area.

Dodd now faces up to 20 years behind bars, with sentencing scheduled for a later date. By pleading guilty to aiding and abetting drug distribution, he admitted direct involvement in the trafficking chain. Assistant U.S. Attorney John Kull is handling the prosecution, signaling federal intent to make an example of the case.

The stash house bust underscores the ongoing flood of prescription narcotics and designer drugs infiltrating urban neighborhoods. From codeine-laced syrups to potent opioids, the inventory found in Dodd’s possession reflects both demand and deadly risk. Cops say operations like this feed addiction, drive violence, and endanger entire communities.

As the federal case closes in, Dodd’s fate rests with the court. But for the streets of Dallas, this takedown is one less supply point feeding a relentless drug trade. The DEA and local authorities are reminding the public: every bust starts with a tip—and they’re watching.
