William Ervin Taylor, Distribution of Child Pornography, Texas 2016

Grimy Times has learned that a Bellmead man has been sentenced to federal prison for distributing child pornography. 28-year-old William Ervin Taylor was sentenced to 210 months in federal prison as part of a plea agreement announced by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The crime took place in Waco, Texas, where Taylor distributed images and videos depicting child pornography to undercover Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents. The charges stem from an investigation that began in March 2015, when Taylor started sharing the illicit content online.

Taylor was arrested in August 2015 after a search warrant was executed at his residence. A subsequent forensic examination of seized materials revealed the presence of child pornography on his computer and cellphone.

As part of his sentence, Taylor must pay $10,000 in restitution and serve five years of supervised release following his prison term. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Walter S. Smith, Jr.

“By conducting these types of investigations, Homeland Security Investigations is taking child predators off the Internet, off the streets, and putting them behind bars,” said Special Agent in Charge Shane Folden, HSI San Antonio.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The investigation was conducted by the Homeland Security Investigations and the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office.

Taylor pleaded guilty to the charge on April 14, 2016, and has remained in custody since his arrest. The case highlights the ongoing efforts to identify and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet.
