CHARLESTON, W.Va. – A Charleston man has pleaded guilty to a federal drug crime.
Willie Charles Sanders, also known as ‘Disco,’ 51, of Charleston, pleaded guilty yesterday, April 2, 2024, to distribution of methamphetamine in the Southern District of West Virginia.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on August 23, 2022, Sanders sold a quantity of methamphetamine to a confidential informant at Sanders’ Charleston residence.
This guilty plea was announced by United States Attorney Will Thompson, who commended the investigative work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Charleston Police Department.
Sanders is scheduled to be sentenced on July 10, 2024, and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a $1 million fine.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Troy D. Adams. Senior United States District Judge John T. Copenhaver, Jr. presided over the hearing.
