Willie Keaton Goodson III, Oxymorphone Distribution, West Virginia 2016

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Two men, Willie Keaton Goodson III and David Pfost, pleaded guilty to federal drug crimes in a recent hearing, announced Acting United States Attorney Carol Casto. Goodson, 22, of Ronceverte, entered his guilty plea to distribution of oxymorphone, a type of pain pill.

In a separate prosecution, David Pfost, 31, of Beckley, pleaded guilty to distributing oxycodone, another pain medication. The two men are facing up to 20 years in federal prison and a $1 million fine each.

Goodson admitted that on October 22, 2015, he distributed oxymorphone pills at his Ronceverte residence to a confidential informant working with law enforcement. The investigation, conducted by the Greenbrier Valley Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, also seized large quantities of oxymorphone, oxycodone, and heroin. Goodson agreed to the forfeiture of approximately $103,000 seized by law enforcement, which is pending in Greenbrier County Circuit Court.

Pfost admitted that on February 11, 2015, he distributed oxycodone to a confidential informant working with law enforcement. The drug deal took place on Washington Street in Beckley.

The investigations were conducted by the Greenbrier Valley Drug and Violent Crime Task Force and the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit. The plea hearings were held before United States District Judge Irene C. Berger.

The cases were brought as part of an ongoing effort led by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to combat the illicit sale and misuse of prescription drugs and heroin. The U.S. Attorney’s Office, joined by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, is committed to aggressively pursuing and shutting down illegal pill trafficking, eliminating open air drug markets, and curtailing the spread of opiate painkillers and heroin in communities across the Southern District.

Willie Keaton Goodson III is facing up to 20 years in federal prison and a $1 million fine. His sentencing is set for June 30, 2016. David Pfost also faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a $1 million fine, with sentencing set for June 30, 2016.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia will continue to work with law enforcement agencies to combat the opioid epidemic in the region.
