Rheta Haskell, 37, Indicted for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury

EAGLE BUTTE, SOUTH DAKOTA – In a shocking turn of events, Rheta Haskell, also known as Rheta Miner, has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury.

According to court documents, Haskell, 37, allegedly assaulted a female victim on October 8, 2016, leaving her with serious bodily injury. The incident is currently under investigation by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services.

Haskell was indicted on January 19, 2017, and appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on January 30, 2017, where she pleaded not guilty to the charges. She was subsequently released on bond pending trial, which has been set for April 4, 2017.

If convicted, Haskell faces up to 20 years in custody and/or a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release, and $200 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered. The charges are merely accusations, and Haskell is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
