A woman convicted of stealing more than $700,000 has been sentenced to prison. Jennifer Smith, 32, was found guilty of theft by deception and aggravated theft in a Dayton court. The charges stem from a scheme in which Smith embezzled funds from her employer between 2020 and 2022.
According to court documents, Smith used her position to steal over $700,000 from her employer, which she then used for personal expenses and to pay off debts. The scheme was uncovered in 2022, and Smith was arrested and charged with multiple counts of theft.
On March 15, 2024, Smith was sentenced to 5 years in prison and ordered to pay restitution to her former employer. The sentence was handed down by Judge John Doe in the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
The case against Smith was prosecuted by the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office. For more information, see the source for more information.
