Overland Park Woman Pleads Guilty to Sex Exploitation of Minor

A disturbing case of child sex trafficking has come to light in Kansas. Tricia Rodarmel, 39, of Overland Park, has pleaded guilty to one count of transporting a minor across state lines for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Tom Beall, Rodarmel admitted to beginning a relationship with co-defendant Robert Dickson through social media in October 2013. Dickson expressed his interest in having sex with minors, and Rodarmel facilitated the encounter by putting him in contact with a 13-year-old minor.

The 13-year-old victim was taken from Missouri to a hotel in Kansas on March 16, 2014, where Dickson was to meet them. Rodarmel was aware of Dickson’s intentions to engage in sex with the minor.

Both Rodarmel and Dickson are facing sentencing in the coming weeks. Rodarmel’s sentencing is set for July 25, with both parties recommending a 17-year prison sentence followed by 10 years of supervised release. Dickson’s sentencing is set for July 11, with a recommended sentence of 25 years, followed by lifetime supervised release.

Acting U.S. Attorney Tom Beall commended the FBI and Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Hart for their work on the case.
