BERNANDO EUGENE FORD, JR., 26, of Woodbridge, was handed a conviction by a federal jury yesterday for the coldblooded robbery and murder of a drug dealer in Falls Church.
The grim crime took place on February 23, 2016. Ford and an accomplice targeted the drug dealer’s apartment, located at the South Tower of Skyline Towers in Falls Church. Armed with semi-automatic handguns, they opened fire, leaving the victim with a severed spine after being shot in the arm and back.
Minutes after the murder, phone records showed contact between Ford’s phone and the victim’s within two miles of the scene. Social media evidence revealed Ford discussing plans to rob drug dealers, further solidifying his involvement.
The duo fled with $2400 in cash but left behind one of the victim’s iPhones. The investigation led to Ford’s arrest, thanks to cartridge casings and bullets from the crime scene that matched Ford’s firearm.
Ford now faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, with life imprisonment as the maximum penalty upon his June 9, 2017 sentencing. U.S. Attorney Dana J. Boente, Fairfax County Chief of Police Edwin C. Roessler Jr., and DEA Special Agent in Charge Karl C. Colder were among those who announced the conviction.
