Xavier Martin Guerra, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Louisiana 2017

A Dallas man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute in Caddo Parish, Louisiana.

Xavier Martin Guerra, 34, was sentenced to 120 months in prison by U.S. District Judge S. Maurice Hicks Jr. Guerra was also sentenced to five years of supervised release after pleading guilty on January 18, 2018.

The charges stem from a traffic stop on February 5, 2017, in Caddo Parish. Guerra, who was riding in a vehicle, was found to have an active warrant in Panola County, Texas, for forgery. Deputies searched the vehicle and discovered a large quantity of methamphetamine.

The search revealed 311.5 grams of methamphetamine in a plastic drinking cup, 7.4016 grams of methamphetamine in three baggies, a .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun in a laundry basket, a drugs scale, pills, and a drug ledger. Additionally, a cell phone and $4,435 were found on Guerra.

Guerra admitted to possessing the items and stated that the driver was unaware he was transporting drugs. The DEA and Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Tennille M. Gilreath and Allison D. Bushnell.

The case highlights the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region. Guerra’s sentence serves as a reminder of the severe consequences for those involved in such activities.
