Local Dance Academy Founder Accused of Child Sex Abuse

Xaviour Smith, 28, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, has been charged with five counts of producing child sexual abuse material, according to a federal indictment.

Smith, the founder of 1101 Dance Academy, Inc. in Temple Hills, allegedly persuaded, induced, enticed, and coerced three minors to engage in sexually explicit conduct between March and August 2025.

The indictment, announced by U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes, also alleges that Smith exploited the minors for the purpose of producing visual depictions of sexually explicit conduct.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Smith made his initial appearance in federal court in Greenbelt, Maryland, and faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum sentence of 30 years in federal prison for each of the five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, if convicted.

The public is urged to remain vigilant and report suspected exploitation of a child through the FBI’s tipline at 1-800-CALL-FBI (225-5324) or by calling your local FBI field office.
