Florida Woman Pleads Guilty to Defrauding Medicare of $3.3 Million

A brazen scheme to rip off Medicare has landed a Florida woman in hot water, with Yolanda Dupont, 38, of New Port Richey, Florida, pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud in federal court in Concord.

According to court documents, Dupont and her co-conspirators owned and operated Allstar Medical Supply Corp., a purported durable medical equipment business in New Hampshire selling orthotic braces. However, instead of providing legitimate medical equipment to those in need, Dupont and her co-conspirators submitted false and fraudulent claims to Medicare, raking in a staggering $3.3 million in the process.

Medicare paid at least $1.6 million to Dupont and her co-conspirators for these claims, but ultimately, Medicare beneficiaries received orthotic braces that were medically unnecessary, ineligible for reimbursement, and often not wanted or needed.

Dupont’s scheme was uncovered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General, who led the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Ward is prosecuting the case.

As part of her guilty plea, Dupont faces a possible sentence of no greater than 10 years in prison, 3 years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000 or twice the pecuniary gain. Sentences are imposed by a federal district court judge based upon the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and statutes which govern the determination of a sentence in a criminal case.

The sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 22, 2025.
