York County Man Charged with Child Pornography Offenses
HARRISBURG – Eliezer Almanzar, a 34-year-old man from York County, Pennsylvania, has been charged with child pornography offenses, according to the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
Almanzar was indicted on April 17, 2024, by a federal grand jury with two counts of sexually exploiting a child to produce child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam stated that Almanzar is facing serious charges and a maximum penalty of 160 years imprisonment, a lifetime term of supervised release following imprisonment, a fine, a statutory assessment, and a special assessment.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Penn Township Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorney K. Wesley Mishoe prosecuting the case.
The investigation and prosecution of child pornography cases are a top priority for law enforcement agencies across the country. The Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood initiative is a nationwide effort to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims. Almanzar’s case is part of this initiative.
Indictments are only allegations, and Almanzar is presumed innocent until found guilty in court. The sentence following a finding of guilt will be imposed by a court after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
