Yves Isidor, a Massachusetts tax return preparer, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for filing false tax returns for clients.
Isidor, who owned and operated Tax Realty Pro in Malden, Massachusetts, prepared over 1,500 tax returns from 2012 to 2019. However, he falsified returns for clients by preparing fraudulent schedules that claimed inappropriate expenses or deductions.
According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, Isidor inflated clients’ total itemized deductions by fabricating medical expenses, charitable contributions, employment expenses, and taxes. He also inflated expense deductions when clients were self-employed or owned rental properties.
As a result of Isidor’s actions, he caused a loss of $443,000 to the United States. His clients testified that Isidor falsified their individual tax returns without their request or consent.
In addition to his prison sentence, U.S. District Judge William G. Young ordered Isidor to serve one year of supervised release.
The case was investigated by the IRS Criminal Investigation and prosecuted by Trial Attorney Christina M. Grimes of the Justice Department’s Tax Division and Assistant U.S. Attorney Victor A. Wild for the District of Massachusetts.
Isidor’s crimes include filing false tax returns and causing a loss to the United States. He is currently serving his prison sentence in Massachusetts.
