Fentanyl Trafficking Plagues Dunn County: Zachary Antoine Williams Sentenced to 151 Months in Prison

NEW BERN, N.C. – In a recent crackdown on opioid trafficking in Dunn County, North Carolina, a local man has been sentenced to more than 12 years in prison for his involvement in a fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine trafficking operation. Zachary Antoine Williams, also known as "Fendi," 23 years old, was handed down the 151-month prison sentence by U.S. District Judge Louise W. Flanagan.

According to court documents and information presented in court, Williams was stopped by law enforcement in Four Oaks, North Carolina on September 18, 2023. A search of his vehicle revealed digital scales, fentanyl powder, and drug paraphernalia. Furthermore, an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Dunn Police Department uncovered evidence of five undercover purchases of crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl from Williams between September 2023 and January 2024. The investigation also revealed that Williams sold $1,500 of heroin per week since at least January 2022.

In addition to the evidence of his involvement in the trafficking operation, law enforcement also discovered two loaded pistols and $3,445 in cash at Williams’ residence during a search in January 2024. Williams has a prior felony conviction for conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

U.S. Attorney Daniel P. Bubar made the announcement following the sentencing. The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Aria Q. Merle.
