Zedekiah Sykes, Armed Robbery, Alabama 2025

A brazen daylight robbery rocked the Montgomery, Ala. dry cleaning business community on March 10, 2025, leaving patrons shaken and owners reeling.

According to federal authorities, 58-year-old Zedekiah Sykes allegedly orchestrated the heist, which resulted in the owner being forced to hand over cash and valuables at gunpoint.

The Montgomery Police Department, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), and the Metro Area Crime Suppression (MACS) Task Force joined forces with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to investigate the crime.

Following a lengthy probe, authorities apprehended Sykes on March 26, 2025, and charged him with armed robbery, carjacking, and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a federal crime of violence.

Unsealed in the United States District Court in Montgomery, the charges against Sykes carry a hefty penalty: if convicted on all counts, he faces a sentence of seven years to life in prison. Notably, there is no parole in the federal system.

Assistant United States Attorney Paul Markovits will be handling Sykes’ case, which is part of the nationwide initiative Operation Take Back America.

This operation aims to combat violent crime and protect communities from the perpetrators of such crimes.
