3 Md Officers Honored During Police Week
In a ceremony in Maryland, three officers who died in shooting incidents in 2016 were honored. The officers, Patrick Dailey, Mark Logsdon, and Jacai D. Colson, were remembered for their bravery and dedication to serving and protecting their communities.
The ceremony was held on May 6, just a week before National Police Week, which runs from May 15 through May 21. National Police Week is a time to pay tribute to police officers who have died in the line of duty and give thanks to officers who faithfully protect and serve.
This year, 123 officers will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. The memorial honors officers who have died in the line of duty, and four Maryland officers will be added to the memorial this year: Craig Anthony Chandler, Brennan Roger Rabain, Noah Aaron Leotta, and George Oliver Noonan.
U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein sent a message to police officers serving in Maryland, thanking them for their courage and devotion to justice. Rosenstein praised the exceptional work of Maryland law enforcement officers and expressed his gratitude for their service.
The National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund reports that the four Maryland officers included in the memorial this year died between 1920 and 2015. The additions bring the total number of officers remembered on the memorial to over 21,000.
The memory of the three officers honored in Maryland will live on, and their bravery and dedication will continue to inspire others to serve and protect their communities.
