Bertoldo Alcaraz-Ortuno, Methamphetamine Possession, Arkansas 2025

LITTLE ROCK—A 37-year-old Mexican national has been sentenced to 11 years and 4 months in federal prison for possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine, announced Jonathan D. Ross, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas.

Bertoldo Alcaraz-Ortuno was convicted of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine on August 7, 2025. He was sentenced to 136 months in federal prison by United States District Judge James M. Moody, Jr. on [sentence date not specified].

Alcaraz-Ortuno also received five years of supervised release as part of his sentence. There is no parole in the federal system.

On December 3, 2024, Alcaraz-Ortuno was indicted on a four-count indictment, including possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, felon in possession of a firearm, and illegal reentry of a previously deported alien.

An investigation revealed that Alcaraz-Ortuno was a source of supply and had a kilogram of methamphetamine in his shed. Law enforcement officers obtained a search warrant and found 1,726 grams of methamphetamine, a .40 caliber firearm, a 9mm firearm, and $10,445 in Alcaraz-Ortuno’s wallet.

Immigration officials confirmed that Alcaraz-Ortuno was not in the United States legally and had been previously deported multiple times.

Alcaraz-Ortuno’s prior conviction for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine resulted in a 48-month sentence and five years of supervised release, which he was still serving at the time of his arrest in this case.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Little Rock Police Department with assistance from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stacy Williams.
