Raul Salazar, Receipt of Child Pornography, Texas 2013

A San Antonio man has been sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for his role in child pornography, announced Acting United States Attorney Richard L. Durbin, Jr.

On August 28, 2013, federal and state authorities executed a search warrant at the residence of Raul Salazar, a 43-year-old man. An analysis of computer related equipment collected by authorities revealed that on August 25, 2013, Salazar downloaded and viewed over 150 images depicting child pornography.

Raul Salazar pleaded guilty to the receipt of child pornography charge on March 3, 2014. He was sentenced in San Antonio, Texas on the same day by U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia to 70 months in federal prison followed by a 20 years of supervised release.

This investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations together with the Texas Department of Public Safety. Assistant United States Attorney Tracy Thompson prosecuted this case on behalf of the Government.

“By conducting these types of investigations, HSI is taking child predators off the Internet, off the streets, and putting them behind bars,” said Special Agent in Charge Janice Ayala, HSI San Antonio. “Targeting these crimes against children is a high priority for HSI. We will continue to dedicate law enforcement resources to identify and bring to justice child predators that traumatize and victimize children.”

The charges against Raul Salazar include receipt of child pornography. The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations together with the Texas Department of Public Safety. Raul Salazar will serve 70 months in federal prison, followed by 20 years of supervised release.

According to the charges, Raul Salazar downloaded and viewed over 150 images depicting child pornography on August 25, 2013. This led to a search warrant being executed at his residence on August 28, 2013.

Raul Salazar is a 43-year-old man who was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison, with 20 years of supervised release. He was charged with receipt of child pornography and pleaded guilty on March 3, 2014.
