Guatemalan National Sentenced for Illegal Reentry
U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that PEDRO BRITO-MARCOS, age 22, a citizen of Guatemala, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Susie Morgan for illegally re-entering the United States.
According to the Bill of Information, PEDRO BRITO-MARCOS was found in the United States on or about March 8, 2018, after having been previously removed therefrom on or about January 19, 2018.
Brito-Marcos, a Guatemalan national, pleaded guilty to a one-count Bill of Information for violating Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a). This federal statute prohibits individuals from re-entering the United States after being previously removed.
U.S. Attorney Evans praised the work of the United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement in investigating this matter.
Assistant United States Attorney Irene González is in charge of the prosecution.
Brito-Marcos was sentenced to time served and a $100.00 special assessment.
The sentencing of Brito-Marcos serves as a reminder of the consequences of violating U.S. immigration laws.
