Methamphetamine Dealer Faces Up to 20 Years
A West Virginia woman has admitted to her involvement in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy that sent shockwaves through the community. Faith Martin, 20, of Shinnston, West Virginia, pled guilty to one count of "Distribution of Methamphetamine" in a federal court.
According to the investigation, Martin sold methamphetamine in Harrison County in August 2018. The sale was part of a larger conspiracy that involved the distribution of the highly addictive and destructive substance. Law enforcement officials were quick to praise the efforts of those involved in the investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Greater Harrison Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated the case. The investigation was funded in part by the federal Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force Program (OCDETF).
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided over the case. Martin faces up to 20 years incarceration and a fine of up to $1,000,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
The OCDETF program supplies critical federal funding and coordination that allows federal and state agencies to work together to successfully identify, investigate, and prosecute major interstate and international drug trafficking organizations and other criminal enterprises.
Law enforcement officials are warning the public about the dangers of methamphetamine and the devastating effects it can have on individuals and communities. The sale and distribution of this substance will not be tolerated, and those involved will face the full force of the law.
The case is a sobering reminder of the ongoing battle against drug trafficking and the importance of community cooperation and support. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the authorities immediately.
