GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: In a groundbreaking plea, 34-year-old Joby Tucson Northington of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, has admitted to the serious charge of POSSESSION OF UNREGISTERED FIREARM (DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE), a crime that carries significant penalties under federal law.

This admission comes as a result of an intensive investigation by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Northington was indicted in July 2014 for his alleged actions on April 12, 2014.

The indictment detailed that Northington knowingly possessed a firearm classified as a destructive device under Title 26, United States Code. The firearm was not registered to him in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record, making it an illegal possession of a firearm.

Presiding over the hearing was Magistrate Judge Kimberly E. West of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma in Muskogee. Northington remains in custody pending sentencing, where he faces up to 10 years imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine.

The prosecution for the United States was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Chris Wilson, who represented the interests of justice with unwavering determination.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the strict federal laws regarding firearms and the serious consequences faced by those who violate them. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this story as it unfolds.
