Daniel Wayne Mauldin, Oxycodone Conspiracy, Oklahoma 2014

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – Daniel Wayne Mauldin, 25, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, has confessed to participating in a multi-year drug conspiracy involving the potent opioid Oxycodone. Mauldin pled guilty on October 29, 2014, to charges stemming from a federal investigation into his drug dealing operation. The guilty plea was entered before Magistrate Judge Kimberly E. West in Muskogee.

According to court documents, the conspiracy stretched back to January 2010, with Mauldin allegedly working with others – both known and unknown to investigators – to possess and distribute the highly addictive Schedule II controlled substance. The indictment details a systematic effort to profit from the illegal sale of Oxycodone within the Eastern District of Oklahoma and beyond.

The case was built by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and coordinated through the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) of the Eastern District of Oklahoma. OCDETF, a powerful initiative spearheaded by the United States Attorney’s Office, focuses on dismantling major drug trafficking organizations and bringing down those responsible for flooding communities with dangerous narcotics.

Mauldin was initially indicted in July 2014, following a lengthy investigation that uncovered evidence of his involvement in the drug trade. The charges specifically cite violations of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(C), related to the possession with intent to distribute and distribution of controlled substances.

Judge West has ordered a presentence investigation report to be completed, which will provide crucial information to the court before sentencing. Until then, Mauldin will remain in the custody of the United States Marshal Service. He faces a potential sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison and a hefty fine of up to $1,000,000.00.

Assistant United States Attorney Shannon Henson is prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and report on the sentencing when it is scheduled. This conviction represents another blow against the relentless flow of opioids into Oklahoma and a small victory in the ongoing war on drugs.
