JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – In a stunning admission of guilt, Roxanne Lamer, 46, a resident of Ebensburg, Pa., has pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiracy charges. United States Attorney David J. Hickton confirmed the plea today.
Lamer, who faces serious consequences for her actions, admitted to conspiring with others from June 9, 2007, to April 15, 2008, to defraud the United States by assisting a co-conspirator in concealing money from the Internal Revenue Service. This deceitful scheme was executed with the intention of enabling the co-conspirator to evade paying income tax.
United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson presided over Lamer’s plea hearing. The defendant now awaits sentencing, which has been scheduled for August 9, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. According to federal law, Lamer could face a maximum total sentence of five years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both.
The actual sentence imposed will be determined based on the seriousness of the offense and any prior criminal history of the defendant, as outlined under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie L. Haines is handling the prosecution of this case for the government. The investigation that led to Lamer’s prosecution was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation.
