Man Jailed for Child Sex Crimes

ALBANY, NEW YORK – Anthony Beckwith, 36, of Sheffield, Massachusetts, was sentenced to 41 months in prison for traveling to New York to have sex with a 12- or 14-year-old girl.

Beckwith pleaded guilty to communicating with a man he believed was offering his stepdaughter for sex. He drove from Massachusetts to Albany on February 1, 2019, to fulfill his twisted desires, but fled after spotting what he thought was law enforcement. He was later arrested and confessed to traveling to Albany with the intent of having sex with the child.

United States District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino also handed down a 10-year term of supervised release, to begin after his prison term, and ordered Beckwith to pay $5,100 in assessments. The convicted sex offender will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

The FBI and New York State Police led the investigation, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Cyrus P.W. Rieck handled the prosecution.

Beckwith’s actions are a stark reminder of the dangers posed by child predators. The Grimy Times urges all parents to be vigilant and educate their children about online safety and the risks of interacting with strangers.

The sentence handed down to Beckwith serves as a warning to those who would seek to harm our children. The Grimy Times will continue to shine a light on these heinous crimes and bring those responsible to justice.

Anthony Beckwith, once a free man, is now facing the harsh reality of his actions. His fate serves as a reminder that the law will not tolerate those who seek to harm our most vulnerable citizens.
