A 3-kilogram cocaine shipment was foiled at the Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, when a ramp agent’s backpack was inspected at security.
Aslyn Thomas, 45, of St. Thomas, arrived to work on April 8, 2026, and was stopped by security personnel. A K-9 unit alerted to the presence of narcotics, and a U.S. Customs and Border Protection test confirmed the bundles were cocaine.
Thomas’ arrest has sparked an investigation by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security Investigations. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Erik Tate.
Thomas is accused of possessing with intent to distribute cocaine, a charge that carries significant penalties. A complaint is merely an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
