Federal prosecutors have dropped the hammer on Evan Ingram, a 42-year-old from Clearwater, FL, charging him with seven counts of distributing controlled substances and two counts each of possession of firearms by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.
According to the latest federal indictment, Ingram has been caught red-handed distributing cocaine on seven occasions between August and September 2022. On four of those dates, he was also in possession of a firearm. The charges come as no surprise considering Ingram’s extensive criminal history, which includes three or more violent felonies and serious drug offenses.
Under federal law, as a convicted felon, Ingram is barred from owning or handling firearms or ammunition. If convicted on all counts, Ingram could face up to 20 years in federal prison for each distribution charge and a mandatory minimum of 15 years, with the potential for life, for each firearm and ammunition possession charge.
The investigation was spearheaded by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Clearwater Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Samantha Newman will be handling the prosecution, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Nebesky is in charge of forfeiture proceedings.
This case is a part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence across communities. Launched on May 26, 2021, the program focuses on fostering trust, supporting community organizations, strategic enforcement, and measuring outcomes to ensure neighborhood safety.
As always, an indictment is not a conviction, and Ingram is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
