NEW HAVEN, CT – Stanlin Daniel Vasquez-Salinas, a 25-year-old Ecuadorian national with a penchant for aliases – also known as “Stalin Vasquez-Salinas” and “Stalin Vasquez” – admitted in federal court today to illegally reentering the United States. The guilty plea comes amidst a pending state investigation into horrifying allegations of commercial sexual abuse of a minor, adding another layer of depravity to this case. U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan’s office announced the plea, delivered before U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden in New Haven.
The unraveling of Vasquez-Salinas’ scheme began on March 11, 2025, when Danbury Police picked him up on charges of conspiracy to commit commercial sexual abuse of a child between the ages of 15 and 17. He initially identified himself as “Stalin D. Vasquez,” but a fingerprint analysis quickly exposed his true identity and a troubling history. Records revealed Vasquez-Salinas had previously slipped into the U.S. in December 2019, only to be apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol in Texas. He was promptly deported back to Ecuador in May 2020 – a deportation he clearly disregarded.
Despite being released on bond from state custody on March 14, 2025, Vasquez-Salinas didn’t stay put. Authorities initiated a brief vehicle chase, followed by a foot pursuit, ultimately leading to his recapture by ICE agents. He’s been cooling his heels in detention ever since. The brazen disregard for the law is a slap in the face to legitimate immigration procedures and a clear indication of his willingness to flout the system.
While the federal charge carries a maximum sentence of two years imprisonment, that’s not the end of his legal troubles. The pending state charges related to the alleged sexual abuse remain active and could result in a significantly longer stint behind bars. Assistant U.S. Attorney Neeraj N. Patel is leading the prosecution, ensuring the full weight of the law is brought to bear on this case.
The investigation was a joint effort between U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. U.S. Attorney Sullivan specifically lauded the State’s Attorney’s Office for the Judicial District of Danbury for their cooperation. This case isn’t being treated as an isolated incident, either.
It’s part of “Operation Take Back America,” a nationwide initiative designed to aggressively combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and safeguard communities from violent crime. The operation streamlines resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN), signaling a full-scale assault on border security and criminal activity. Vasquez-Salinas is just one piece of a much larger puzzle, and authorities are determined to bring all perpetrators to justice.
