NEW HAVEN, CT – A dark cloud hangs over Danbury as STANLIN DANIEL VASQUEZ-SALINAS, 25, an Ecuadorian national, admitted today to illegally slipping back into the United States after being deported. The guilty plea, entered before U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden, comes as Vasquez-Salinas, also known as “Stalin Vasquez-Salinas” and “Stalin Vasquez,” faces disturbing allegations of conspiring to commit commercial sexual abuse of a minor.
The case unraveled on March 11, 2025, when Danbury Police hauled Vasquez-Salinas in, initially charging him with the horrific crime involving a victim between the ages of 15 and 17. He initially identified himself as “Stalin D. Vasquez,” but a fingerprint analysis quickly revealed his true identity and a troubling history. Records show Vasquez-Salinas first illegally entered the U.S. in December 2019, was apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol in Texas, and subsequently removed to Ecuador in May 2020. This wasn’t a simple oversight; it was a deliberate flouting of the law.
The situation escalated rapidly. Released from state custody on bond just three days after his initial arrest, on March 14, 2025, Vasquez-Salinas attempted to evade authorities in a brief vehicle chase followed by a foot pursuit. It was a futile effort. ICE swiftly took him into custody, where he has remained detained ever since. The brazen attempt to escape justice only deepened the gravity of the charges against him.
U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan for the District of Connecticut made the announcement, emphasizing the seriousness of the case. While the sentencing date remains unscheduled, Vasquez-Salinas faces a maximum of two years behind bars for the illegal reentry charge. However, that’s just one piece of the puzzle. The pending state charges related to the alleged sexual abuse remain a significant threat, promising a potentially far longer period of incarceration if convicted.
The investigation was a joint effort between U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Neeraj N. Patel is leading the prosecution, ensuring that justice is pursued relentlessly. Sullivan also extended gratitude to the State’s Attorney’s Office for the Judicial District of Danbury for their crucial collaboration.
This case is framed within “Operation Take Back America,” a sweeping nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice. The operation aims to aggressively combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and safeguard communities from violent crime. It’s a clear signal: the DOJ is doubling down on border security and prosecuting those who repeatedly violate immigration laws, particularly when coupled with heinous crimes like those alleged against Vasquez-Salinas. This isn’t just about one man; it’s a message to anyone attempting to exploit our borders and prey on the vulnerable.
