Las Vegas has witnessed another tragedy in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking, as Danielle Partington, a local woman, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for selling fentanyl pills that resulted in a fatal overdose.
United States District Judge Richard F. Boulware II imposed the sentence on Partington, who admitted her guilt in March 2025 by pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. The government had recommended a sentence of 144 months for her role as a dealer.
Partington was the supplier of fentanyl pills to the victim between fall 2019 and January 2020. On January 20, 2020, she delivered 80 fentanyl pills to the victim, who overdosed on them three days later. The highly potent synthetic opioid is up to 100 times stronger than morphine and can be lethal in as little as two milligrams.
Acting United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada and DEA’s Los Angeles Division Deputy Special Agent in Charge Anthony Chrysanthis announced the sentencing. The DEA has also initiated a public awareness campaign, ‘One Pill Can Kill,’ to educate the public about the dangers of counterfeit pills.
The investigation leading to Partington’s conviction was handled by the DEA, with Assistant United States Attorneys Joshua Brister and Edward Penetar prosecuting the case. For more information on the campaign and fentanyl awareness, visit DEA.gov/onepill.
This sentence serves as a stark reminder of the deadly consequences associated with the sale and use of illicit opioids in our communities.
