Washington – Christopher Forbes, a 30-year-old felon from Suitland, Maryland, faced the federal bench today for his role in an early morning shootout near Washington’s Stadium Armory Metro Station. The seasoned criminal was handed a 66-month sentence by U.S. District Court Judge Trevor N. McFadden, who also ordered three years of supervised release following his prison term.
Forbes entered a guilty plea on June 6, 2025, admitting to being a felon in possession of a firearm. The investigation into the incident, which involved the recovery of a loaded Smith & Wesson .40 caliber pistol, was part of the Make D.C. Safe Again Initiative, aimed at reducing violent crime and prioritizing federal firearms violations.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers responded to the 1800 block of A Street SE after receiving several emergency calls about gunfire. Upon arrival, they found Forbes near Independence Ave. SE, shouting into his cellphone. During a protective pat-down, Forbes confessed to carrying a firearm, which was later identified as having been reported stolen in North Carolina.
Forbes has a sordid past of his own, including a 2024 felony robbery conviction in Prince George’s County and an active warrant for failure to appear. He also faces a non-extraditable warrant from Florida for discharging a firearm in public. Under federal law, Forbes is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition due to his criminal record.
In his plea agreement, Forbes confessed to firing the pistol at least four times outside the Metro Station. The case was investigated by the ATF Washington Field Office and the Metropolitan Police Department, prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrea Duvall.
