Broken Bow Narc Boss Garcia-Urquizo Gets Decade Sentence for Meth Conspiracy

Reyes Ernesto Garcia-Urquizo, a 38-year-old Broken Bow native, faced federal justice this week as he was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison for his role in a massive methamphetamine conspiracy. The United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods announced the sentence on September 11, 2025, following a trial in Lincoln, Nebraska.

United States District Judge Susan M. Bazis imposed the stiff sentence, which included no parole under the federal system. Upon his release from prison, Garcia-Urquizo will also serve a five-year term of supervised release and is subject to deportation due to his prior illegal presence in the United States.

The case against Garcia-Urquizo began in late 2023 when the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the CODE Drug Task Force zeroed in on a mysterious figure picking up methamphetamine in remote locations. An anonymous tip led to a broader investigation, revealing that Garcia-Urquizo was at the heart of a drug ring operating out of Broken Bow.

CODE investigators observed the suspect’s activities, including frequent trips between town and Lexington areas known for drug use and activity. Controlled buys confirmed Garcia-Urquizo as the source in Broken Bow, while further investigation revealed his connections to a Colorado-based methamphetamine drop location, from which he received shipments directly from Mexico.

The CODE Task Force, an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, comprised law enforcement agencies across 22 counties in Nebraska. The OCDETF approach is designed to dismantle high-level criminal organizations with a multi-agency strategy that leverages intelligence and prosecution leadership.
