Darryl Parker, Using a Communication Facility to Commit a Drug Felony, New York 2008

Buffalo, NY – In a major blow to the city’s narcotics trade, 32-year-old Darryl Parker was sentenced to 27 months in prison and one year supervised release for using a communication facility to commit a drug felony.

The probe, which involved wiretaps and undercover operations, resulted in the indictment of 33 individuals, including Parker.

Parker was specifically accused of ordering cocaine from a source of supply between January 2008 and July 29, 2008. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Clare Kane, who handled the case, stated that Parker was intercepted on wiretaps making these orders.

The investigation was a collaborative effort between the Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Brian R. Crowell, New York Region, and the Buffalo Police Department, under the direction of Commissioner Daniel Derenda.

The sentencing of Parker brings the number of convictions in the case to 30, with several more defendants still awaiting trial. The successful prosecution of Parker and his co-defendants sends a clear message to those involved in the city’s narcotics trade that they will be held accountable for their crimes.
