Juan R. Grogan, Fentanyl Trafficking, Ohio 2022

A federal jury in Cleveland has delivered guilty verdicts against Juan R. Grogan, 30, of Canton, Ohio, for his involvement in a fentanyl trafficking operation.

Grogan was found guilty of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

On December 1, 2020, law enforcement officers reviewed video footage of a shooting incident in the Canton area, which involved a pair of vehicles exchanging gunfire. Investigators believed Grogan was the operator of one of the vehicles.

During the execution of a search warrant on December 10, 2020, officers located a loaded Glock, model 30 handgun, additional ammunition, a digital scale, and a clear plastic bag containing brown powder. The substance was later tested and found to contain 75.6 grams of heroin and fentanyl.

Grogan faces a maximum possible sentence of life in prison. The case was investigated by the FBI, United States Marshal Service, Canton Police Department, and Stark County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Damoun Delaviz prosecuted the case.

The evidence presented in court highlighted Grogan’s involvement in a sophisticated fentanyl trafficking operation. His arrest and subsequent conviction are a significant blow to the opioid epidemic in Ohio.
