Aaron Michael Correia Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Felon in Possession of a Firearm

Aaron Michael Correia, 38, of San Joaquin County, has been sentenced to five years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

On May 8, 2024, Correia was found to be in possession of a loaded .22 Ruger revolver and a box of .22 caliber ammunition during a traffic stop. He is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition because he has multiple state felony convictions, including 2017 and 2021 convictions for being a felon in possession of a firearm in San Joaquin County.

The case was the product of an investigation by the Manteca Police Department, the Stockton Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Haddy Abouzeid prosecuted the case.

Correia’s sentence is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.

On May 26, 2021, the U.S. government launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on these core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.

The defendant/respondent, Aaron Michael Correia, was sentenced to 5 years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The crime occurred in San Joaquin County, California, on May 8, 2024.
