West Haven Man Charged with Possessing Child Sex Abuse Material

A 30-year-old man from West Haven, Connecticut, has been charged with possession of child pornography, according to federal authorities. Adam C. Salgado, Jr. was arrested on June 5, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas, and appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert M. Spector in New Haven, where he was released on a $100,000 bond.

The charge stems from a report made by a cloud-based storage company to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The company had identified a user, subsequently determined to be Salgado, with videos of child sexual abuse stored on their account. Further investigation revealed that Salgado’s Google account also contained images and videos of child sex abuse.

Possession of child pornography carries a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years, according to federal law. U.S. Attorney Vanessa Roberts Avery stressed that a complaint is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Charges are only allegations, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The matter is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) with the assistance of the Middletown Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel George.

This prosecution is part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood Initiative, which aims to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation.
