Adam Joseph Plauche, 38, Sentenced for Selling Stolen Firearm in West Virginia

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – Adam Joseph Plauche, a 38-year-old Harpers Ferry resident, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for selling a stolen firearm, announced United States Attorney Bill Powell.

According to the court documents, Plauche shipped the stolen firearm across state lines in September 2015 in Jefferson County, West Virginia. He had previously pled guilty to one count of ‘Possession and Sale of Stolen Firearm’ in March 2018.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul T. Camilletti prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, while the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated.

Chief U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh presided over the case, which was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN). PSN is a program aimed at reducing violent crime and making neighborhoods safer. The program has been successfully implemented across the United States, bringing together law enforcement agencies at all levels to tackle the issue of violent crime.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has made addressing the tide of rising violent crime in America a top priority. In October 2017, as part of a series of actions to address this crime trend, Attorney General Sessions reinvigorated PSN and directed all U.S. Attorney’s Offices to develop a district crime reduction strategy that incorporates the lessons learned since PSN launched in 2001.

Adam Joseph Plauche’s sentence serves as a reminder of the consequences of selling stolen firearms and the dedication of law enforcement agencies to keeping communities safe.
